Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Maria dei Greci is the oldest sacred place in Molinara, still the parish seat. It is located along the main road of the fortified village, near the disappeared "porta da basso." Tradition, which seems to be confirmed by more documented data, has it that the church was founded in the early Middle Ages by a community of Byzantine monks. The church is also interesting architecturally, because the structure conceals an original layout of the Kuppelhalle type, which is common among rural Apulian churches but very rare in present-day Campania.
