Facts and practical information
The church of San Michele di Murusas is a place of worship located northeast of the city of Sassari, about a kilometer from the suburban neighborhood of Sant'Orsola. The building is the only evidence of the ancient village of Murusas, a settlement first mentioned in the Condaghe di San Pietro di Silki in documents belonging to the second half of the 11th century.
The church, on the other hand, dates back to the late 12th or early 13th century, and is listed in the Condaghe di san Michele di Salvenor among the buildings of the Sassari district, along with the nearby churches of Santa Barbara and Sant'Antonio di Innoviu a Li Punti, which still exist although, like that of San Michele, in a state of serious abandonment and precarious static condition.
Since 1765 it has been owned by the Fresco family; after 1869 it was deconsecrated and used as a stable. It is currently part of the Pranzetti family's holdings.
