Facts and practical information
The Rocca di Castellina in Chianti is a castle located in the town of the same name in the province of Siena.
A few long stretches around the ancient settlement of the town remain of the walls, but neither gate has been preserved: the Fiorentina was destroyed during World War I and later replaced by a stile opening. The keep is preserved in excellent condition, with two square buildings and high walls. Today it is the seat of the municipality and since April 21, 2006 has been home to the Archaeological Museum of Sienese Chianti, which presents the history of the ancient landscapes of the entire Chianti area, in addition to Castellina the towns of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in Chianti and Radda in Chianti.
