Facts and practical information
The basilica of St. Joseph the Craftsman, formerly known as St. Blaise of Amiterno and in ancient times as St. Victorine, is a religious building in L'Aquila, located in the quarter of St. Peter.
It owes its creation to the castellans of Amiterno who thus contributed to the founding of the city in the 13th century.
The church, which was severely damaged in the 2009 earthquake, was restored starting in 2011 and reopened to the public on July 22, 2012. On May 20, 2013, it was elevated to the rank of minor basilica, the third in the city after those of Santa Maria di Collemaggio and San Bernardino.
Inside the church is the 15th-century mausoleum dedicated to Pietro Lalle Camponeschi, later declared a national monument.
