The port of Corigliano Calabro is the only fishing-commercial port in the upper Ionian Sea of Cosenza. It is centrally located in the Gulf of Corigliano, which is part of the larger Gulf of Taranto.
The port of Corigliano, located in the territory of the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, in the hamlet of Schiavonea, is a large facility, dedicated mainly to fishing and commercial activity. Broad outlets are planned toward its development also as a tourist port.
Technically it is a Class II port with two docks. The area of the port basin is 1.3 million square meters, the total extent of the harbor yards is 270,000 m² with a depth of the seabed reaching 12 m. The main activity is fishing put in place by a fleet of about 150 fishing boats and vessels engaged in artisanal fishing. The port is also home to one of the most important fish markets in the south.
