Museo Archeologico Nazionale G. Carettoni, Cassino
Facts and practical information
The Gianfilippo Carettoni National Archaeological Museum in Cassino is located along ss. 149, which leads from the town center to Montecassino. The building was built close to the walls of ancient Casinum, a center of remote origin, and the archaeological area, in a position above the amphitheater and near the so-called Porta Campana, which came to light only after the museum itself was built.
Since December 2014, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities has managed it through the Lazio Museum Pole, which became the Regional Directorate of Museums in December 2019.
