The Textile and Costume Museum of Spoleto is a museum site included in the interregional Umbrian-Marchigiana museum network called Sistema museo. It was created following Lucia Portoghesi's donation of her personal collection to the municipality of Spoleto.
The textile heritage housed in it makes it possible to trace the evolution of costume from the 14th to the 20th century and take a close look at the various decorative techniques of fashion history.
The artifacts come from all regions of Italy and many foreign countries such as: United States, France, England, Austria, Balkan countries, Aegean Islands, Turkey, Persia, China and Russia.
Periodically within it are organized thematic paths and educational workshops aimed at schools in the area. Since 2010 it has been the leader of the regional project Musei che hanno stoffa - The textile collections in the museums of Umbria.
