Facts and practical information
The Villa of Trajan was the summer residence of Emperor Trajan; it stands in the natural scenery of the Arcinazzo Highlands, more precisely at the foot of Mount Altuino, in an area crossed by the Aniene River, whose fine waters were considered the best and healthiest in antiquity. The villa, work on which began in the late first century AD, occupies an area of about 5 hectares, much of which has yet to be excavated.
