Museo della Certosa
Facts and practical information
The Carthusian Monastery Museum of Pavia is housed in the rooms of the Ducal Palace, a summer residence of the Visconti and Sforza dynasties later used as guest quarters. The building, modified in 1625 by an intervention on the facade by architect Francesco Maria Richini, features a linear succession of windows between half-columns that lend luminosity to the entire structure. It houses works from or related to the monastic complex. The ground-floor gallery the gipsoteca, recently rearranged, houses more than 200 casts of large and small dimensions.
Since December 2014, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities has managed it through the Museum Pole of Lombardy, which became the Regional Directorate of Museums in December 2019.
