Facts and practical information
The integral nature reserve Isola Lachea e faraglioni dei Ciclopi is a protected natural area that was established by the Sicilian Region in 1998 and entrusted for management to the University of Catania. The protected area, in addition to a landscape, historical and cultural value of undoubted value, preserves faunal and vegetative elements of great scientific value, both terrestrial and of the marine planes above and below the coastline. In addition to birds, present with both sedentary and passage species, and the endemic lizard Podarcis sicula ciclopica the reserve's fauna includes numerous invertebrates including Isopods, Diplopods, Collemboles, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera, and a rich underwater fauna and flora.
The reserve is located opposite the town of Aci Trezza.
