Riserva Laguna di Capo Peloro
Facts and practical information
The oriented nature reserve Laguna di Capo Peloro is a protected natural area located in the municipality of Messina and was established by the Sicilian Region in 2001. It occupies an area of 68.12 hectares and is managed by the metropolitan city of Messina.
The Cape Peloro Lagoon is also a site of international importance, included in the 1972 UNESCO Water Project, and a site of national importance recognized by the Italian Botanical Society. More than 400 aquatic species live within the nature reserve, at least ten of which are endemic.
