Lake Matese is the second highest karst lake in Italy, located at the foot of Mount Miletto and Mount Gallinola in the Matese mountain range, in the municipalities of San Gregorio Matese and Castello del Matese in the province of Caserta. It has no tributaries, but fills with water from the melting snows of Mt. Miletto and Mt. Gallinola Matese and some perennial springs.
