The Church of St. Francis of Assisi is one of Lucera's main places of Catholic worship, located in Piazza Tribunali in the city's historic center.

In 2001 it was declared the "Diocesan Shrine of St. Francis Anthony Fasani," where every year thousands of devotees go to the foot of the altar to honor the body of Father Master.

In 2008, the shrine was declared a "Monument Witness to a Culture of Peace," and on May 11, 2012, it was elevated to the dignity of a minor basilica.
