Monterano is a ghost town in Italy, located in the province of Rome, in the territory of Canale Monterano. Perched on the summit esplanade of a tuffaceous rise, it is currently included in the Monterano Regional Nature Reserve. The ruins of the ancient village, because of their beauty and relative proximity to Rome, have been used as sets for numerous films, both Italian and foreign.
