Compendio Garibaldino di Caprera-a museum complex of the natural and architectural on Caprera island dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi, who lived there from 1856 to his death in 1882. The complex, which includes the Historical Museum, was designed to show the place of life of the Italian hero national from the last thirty years of his life. It houses a number of residential and agricultural buildings, built in 1856-1860 as a farm of Garibaldi. The buildings contain collections of Garibaldi's personal items. In addition, the complex includes a chapel, a family cemetery and varied vegetation - partly natural and partly exotic.
The first was built a three -room house in the south of the farm. Then another wooden house was built and a stone fence around the farm, protecting against wild animals. Finally, in the center of the Garibaldi complex he built a "White House", in which original furniture is preserved. On the walls hang photos of three members of his family who lived with Garibaldi on the farm: his last wife: Francesca Armosino, who founded a farm with him, his oldest daughter: Clelia Garibaldi, who was born from his last wife, his youngest son: Manlio, Also born from her. The son, who was an officer of the Italian Navy, died at a young age. A sea map, swords and rifles were issued in the library. In another room there are representative robes and other clothes that Garibaldi wore. There is also a room in which Garibaldi lived over the last days of his life and where he died. There is his wheelchair, which he used at the end of his life. In the middle of the room there is a bed with a canopy where Garibaldi died. A plaque hangs on the wall with the date of his death: Friday, June 2 and the clock with the time of death: 18.20.
