Monumento agli ex internati, Valpolicella

The Monument to former internees of Nazi concentration camps is located in the hamlet of Balconi in the municipality of Pescantina, in the province of Verona.

It is located next to the local disused railway station, along the Brenner railroad, where from the summer of 1945 until 1947 the incoming tradotte from the North stopped, bringing back to Italy thousands of military internees, civilian deportees and workers who had escaped death in Germany, who once disembarked received from the volunteers organized by the Allied Command together with the Italian Red Cross and the Opera pontificia di assistenza e soccorso.
