The parish of St. Mary of the Assumption, also referred to as the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Charity and simply as the Church of the Assumption, is a religious building located in Piazza del Longhena in Loreo, in the province of Rovigo. According to the Catholic Church it is considered an archpriesthood church, that is, at the head of a particular parish called the archpriesthood.
The original building, erected in the 15th century, was later remodeled first in the 17th century, raising a Baroque facade designed by Baldassare Longhena, and finally in the 18th century taking on the appearance it appears today.
The interior is embellished with paintings of the Venetian school, including Antonio Vassilacchi, Pietro Damini and Andrea Vicentino, and Antonio Marinetti.
