The shrine of Santa Maria Regina di Anglona is an ancient Marian shrine located on the sacred hill of Anglona in the Lucanian municipality of Tursi, in the province of Matera. The shrine is located on a hill 263 m above sea level overlooking the valley below between the Agri and Sinni rivers. It is halfway along the provincial road from Tursi to Policoro. In 1976 it became the titular see of the diocese of Tursi-Lagonegro. Since 1931 it has been a national monument. On May 17, 1999, the shrine was elevated to the dignity of pontifical basilica minor by Pope John Paul II, in memory of the synod of bishops.
