The de Gemmis Library was founded in 1960 with the donation of the book and archival collections of Baron Eng. Gennaro de Gemmis to the Province of Bari. Initially located at the Corte del Catapano, then in other premises in the Muratti district, the Library has had its permanent home since 2003 in the recently restored Convent of Santa Teresa dei Maschi.
