Parco della Divina Commedia, Campobello di Licata
Facts and practical information
The Divine Comedy Park or Valley of the Painted Stones in Campobello di Licata is a large literary park in which there are 110 travertine monoliths on which various scenes from the Divine Comedy have been painted. The entire site will undergo expansion and improvements.
The park is set in an old stone quarry located south of the township. The setting of the three cantos of Dante's work and the 110 ten stones that describe it follow a 300-meter winding path that runs first downhill to hell and then uphill to purgatory and heaven. Towering over all by its size is the stone of the vision of God placed at the highest point of the entire literary park.
The stones were painted by artist Silvio Benedetto with the collaboration of Olga Macaluso.
