Chiesa della Beata Vergine di Boloe, Benetutti
Facts and practical information
The church of the Blessed Virgin of Boloe is a country church located in the territory of Benetutti, a town in central Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of Sant'Elena, diocese of Ozieri. It is the destination of two pilgrimages during the year, one on May 13 on the occasion of the memory of Our Lady of Fátima and the other on September 8 on the occasion of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Although the central feast day is Sept. 8, the building is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary as suggested precisely by the name, which comes from the Sardinian verb cioè. Inside there is an ancient painting depicting the life of Mary and a statue dedicated to the Dormition of Mary dating from the 15th century.
