Biblioteca comunale di Trento, Trento
Facts and practical information
The Trent City Library is a public civic library and is the center of a citywide system of libraries, divided among several branches. The building on Via Roma is the center of a system consisting of outlying branches, lending points and a bibliobus.
The Library has the largest collection of book materials pertaining to the city of Trent, and more generally to the whole of Trentino: it is also the recipient of the legal deposit for the provincial territory.
Created as a universal library of study and at the same time inspired by the German Landesbibliothek, it is devoted both to public reading and to preservation.
It follows, in service delivery, the model of the "tripartite library : entrance sector for centers of interest, systematic open shelf, repository."
Its collections can be consulted online through the OPAC of the Trentino Bibliographic Catalog, which also includes material from more than 150 public and private libraries in the Autonomous Province of Trento.
