San Pietro in Monastero, Gazzo Veronese
Facts and practical information
The church of San Pietro in Valle, otherwise known as the church of San Pietro in Monastero, is an ecclesiastical building that stands near San Pietro in Valle, a hamlet of Gazzo Veronese, on the banks of the Tione River. It was called Céson to distinguish it from today's parish church, also dedicated to St. Peter, built in the 17th century.
The church, which was part of the domains of the Abbey of San Zeno in Verona, had a twin history with that of Santa Maria Maggiore, which was part of the domains of the Abbey of Santa Maria in Organo in Verona, also the result of a bequest from the Lombards.
