Santuario dei Piloni
Facts and practical information
The expression Santuario dei Piloni popularly denotes the shrine dedicated to Saints James and Philip that stands in the woods of the Roero, just outside the town of Montà d'Alba. This denomination derives from the presence near the sanctuary of thirteen chapels adorned with plaster statues that wind through the woods composing a "Way of the Cross," until they reach the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre at the highest point of the high ground, according to an artistic and landscape design that can be traced back to the typology of the Sacred Mountains.
