The Tridentine Museum of Natural Science, was and the main nature museum facility in Trent until the opening of MUSE in 2013. The historical home of the Museum of Natural History in Trent since 1975 has been the Sardagna building on the central Via Calepina at number 14.
Since July 27, 2013, that arrangement has been abandoned, and the museum has been significantly expanded and completely revised in its exhibitions and museum offerings, using the new MUSE venue that is more decentralized than the previous one, built in the former Michelin area, in the new Le Albere district, south of the Palazzo delle Albere and the Briamasco stadium. The new structure was designed by Renzo Piano's studio, develops with a considerable volume on six levels for a total of 12,600 square meters, and offers spaces that were unthinkable in the Palazzo Sardagna venue.
