Kończysta Turnia, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Kończysta Turnia - a turtleneck in the northwestern ridge of Malolłączniak in the Polish Tatra Mountains. It rises above the forest in the northern part of the Valley Miętusiej, in place of its connection with the Valley Kościeliską. From the Czerwonego Gronik is separated by the Spalone Siodło Pass. It has two peaks, slightly higher is the western one. The tops are connected by a narrow ridge, which on both sides descends by walls and cliffs. To the southwest, the crag descends with a wall about 80 m high, the steepest part is its upper part. To the north and west it descends with lower, but steeper walls. In the walls connecting it with the Burnt Saddle there are two smaller crags. However, the whole peak block of Mt Kończysta Turni can be easily circled around 40 m below its tops.
It is built of strongly crystallized gray and pink-gray limestone with admixtures of mussel shells, sea urchin needles, and pinhole skeletons. Several caves are described in it. There are climbing routes for mountaineers, but currently it is a strictly protected area closed for tourists and mountaineers. The crag has long been penetrated by treasure hunters, as evidenced by the signs carved on the walls.
Finchy Turnia was often mistaken for Zawiesista Turnia, rising just above the forest above Miętusia Polana.
