The Fatih Mosque in Bremen-Gröpelingen is the first mosque in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and the third largest in Germany. Founded in 1973, the mosque association is also the oldest and largest Muslim community in Bremen. It was registered in 1974 as "Verein zur Erhaltung des islamischen Gebetsraumes in Bremen e. V.".
The Fatih Mosque has a 27 m high minaret and a 12 m diameter dome. It can accommodate about 1300 worshippers. The foundation stone was laid on June 8, 1995, and the inauguration took place on December 3, 1999. The prayer room was painted by two Chinese and four Turkish artists.
The mosque association belongs to the "Islamic Federation Bremen" and is assigned to the Islamic Community Millî Görüş. It has about 500 members. Mehmet Kilinc, spokesman for the Shura Bremen, was head of the Bremen branch of the Central Institute Islam Archive Germany.
