Brander Stier, Aachen
Facts and practical information
The Brand bull is the symbol of the Aachen district of Brand.
A life-size bronze statue dominates the Brander market square. In 1976, this statue by the sculptor Karl-Henning Seemann was erected at the instigation of the local citizens' association. At the Elisengarten in the city center, the Kreislauf des Geldes fountain, also created by Seemann and donated by Sparkasse Aachen, can be visited.
The bull probably derives from the Cornelius horn in the coat of arms of Aachen-Brand, which represents the former affiliation with the imperial abbey of Kornelimünster and at the same time symbolizes the alleged stubbornness of the inhabitants.
