Germendorf Animal, Leisure and Dinosaur Park is an animal park with an attached dinosaur park, which features life-size replicas of dinosaurs. In addition, there is an area with rides mainly aimed at children, as well as pony rides. The park is located in the Germendorf district of Oranienburg. In addition to smaller and domestic animals, exotic animals such as zebras, eland and alpacas are also kept. In addition, there is a petting zoo with goats, which can be entered. In total, the zoo is home to 650 animals. On the territory of the park there are also several lakes with bathing places, as well as separate bathing places for children and dogs. With a total area of 69 hectares, of which 14 hectares are allotted to the outdoor enclosure, Germendorf Zoo is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the greater Berlin area. The lake area was created as an excavation pit during the construction of the Berlin-Rostock highway. In 1992 the construction of the zoo was started and in 2002 it received the zoo permit. Since 2009, the dinosaur park is also located on the site. The founder of the park is the former head of Germendorf Horst Eichholz. Until 2014, profits from gravel mining were invested in the park.
About 400,000 guests visit the park every year, mostly families with children.
