The Old Town Hall was the town hall of Völklingen until 1970 and is now home to the town library and the adult education center.
The town hall was completed in 1875 after two years of construction. Richard Schmidt and Melchior Schneider served as architects. Between 1905 and 1907, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out under municipal master builder Hermann Eichner. In the process, the characteristic tower was erected. In November 1970, the new town hall on Rathausplatz was occupied. In 1972 the old town hall was listed as a historical monument and was restored from 1974 to 1976. Since that time, the adult education center, the municipal library and cultural rooms have been located in the old town hall.
