Museo di scienze naturali, Lodi
Facts and practical information
The museum of natural sciences of the San Francesco College in Lodi was born in 1850 as a museum of the College of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Monza, directed by the Barnabites. When the school closed early in 1884, much of the material passed to the Lodi college. The collection expanded further thanks to the donation of Dr. Paolo Lanfossi, who in 1862, bequeathed a collection of minerals, shells, birds and two hundred natural science books. In 1996, the opening, previously reserved only for students of the college, was extended to all.
The museum consists of about six thousand units, arranged on three wings of a sixteenth-century cloister, with a total covered area of about three hundred square meters.
