Chiesa di San Zenone

Facts and practical information

The church of San Zenone is a church in Gallarate.

The cult of Saint Zeno appears to have been brought to Gallarate by Lombard soldiers from Verona. The church already existed in the 14th century and was two centuries later rebuilt and enlarged with new chapels. Again in the 18th century it underwent a radical makeover; the old bell tower was demolished in 1897 and replaced by the present one more than 50 meters high and topped by a statue of the patron saint. The facade was then completely decorated in 1935.
