Fortezza della Verrucola, Fivizzano

The Verrucola fortress is a medieval construction located in Verrucola, a hamlet of Fivizzano, in eastern Lunigiana.

The fortress, the earliest documented records of which date back to the early 12th century, retains all the elements of a medieval castrum with a true system of fortifications responding to the military and legal organization of a feudal domain. The castellated walls include the court, chapel, and several towers.
