The Castello dei Vicari is a castle located in the center of Lari, in the province of Pisa, home to an educational museum dedicated to the history of the Tuscan territory and a collection of art and archaeology called the Filippo Baldinucci Museum, in honor of Filippo Baldinucci, a great art historian, organizer of the original nucleus of the Uffizi Gallery's print cabinet, and governor in Lari of the Pisan Hills and Valdera in the 17th century.
Perhaps the only medieval-Renaissance castle still inhabitable in the entire province of Pisa, owned by the municipality of Lari, it was once the seat of important Pisan, Florentine, Tuscan and Italian state magistracies. Trials for witchcraft were also conducted there under the direction of the Roman Inquisition. It stands on a hill that was already inhabited in ancient times.
