Piazza del Santo, dominated by the imposing bulk of the Basilica del Santo, has always been a symbolic place of devotion and worship, a destination for many tourists but also the center of Paduan city life. Starting in 1257, in fact, the square hosted the Fair of the Saint, which was moved in 1596 a few hundred meters away to Prato della Valle. This square for a stretch is of dependence of the Vatican City State, and is limited by the Oratory of San Giorgio, the Scuola del Santo and the Museo Civico al Santo.
