Facts and practical information
The Church of the Santissima Annunziata di Portoria, better known as St. Catherine's Church is a Catholic religious building in the city center of Genoa, in the Portoria district.
The church, located on the edge of the Piccapietra neighborhood near the Acquasola esplanade, is accessed from a small side square at Via Bartolomeo Bosco, at the rear of the modern Palace of Justice, which looms with its glass and concrete elevation over what remains of the original churchyard. Another entrance, connected to an internal staircase, is on Via IV Novembre, on the Acquasola side. The small square is also overlooked by the entrance to the Capuchin convent and that of the upper chapel, where St. Catherine's body was kept before it was moved inside the church.
