Santuario della Madonna del Monte, Caldarola

The shrine of Santa Maria del Monte is located in the Vittorio Emanuele II square in Caldarola.

The factory is presented as a particularly elaborate architecture, by virtue of careful linguistic expression, the whole composition expresses at its best the late eighteenth-century architectural culture of which it is the fruit. As per the textbook we are confronted with architecture as the art of inventing and building with solidity, comfort and beauty;. It was built through the use of important construction techniques such as barrel vaults equipped with ribs, pendentives, Lombard-style dome, lantern, and is internally enriched with innumerable stuccoes, in order to preserve and allow the veneration of the prodigious image of Our Lady of the Mount by Sanseverino painter Lorenzo d'Alessandro painted in 1491 on commission from Blessed Francesco da Caldarola.
