Rifugio Ezio Orsi
Facts and practical information
The Ezio Orsi Refuge is a refuge built in 1974 at the foot of Mount Ebro in the Curone valley thanks to the initiative of Ezio Orsi, a member of the CAI of Tortona, and in September 1975 it was opened. Annual turnout at the refuge is on the 2,000 people per year. In 1990 the management was taken over by the nonprofit association Amici del Monte Ebro. The refuge can be reached from Salogni di Fabbrica Curone and from Caldirola.
In 2003 the refuge was rebuilt from scratch and opened in 2004. An agreement is made with the Environmental Office of the Province of Alexandria by which the facility is made available to all schools in the province for educational use. Management is entrusted to volunteers who take turns every weekend.
From here it is possible to reach the ridge between the Curone and Borbera valleys and the peaks of the area: Mt. Ebro, Mt. Chiappo, Mt. Giarolo, Mt. Cavalmurone, Mt. Pana.
