Torre del Poetto

The Poetto tower is a small coastal tower located on the Sella del Diavolo promontory in Cagliari. The semi-destroyed building dominates, from its position 87 meters above sea level, the small port of Marina Piccola and the nearby Poetto beach.

The tower, dating back to the 17th century, appears today broken into two sections along the vertical axis. The structure is truncated-conical, originally vaulted in the shape of a dome, seven meters high by five meters in diameter. The building material is limestone.

From the site of the Poetto tower, which is difficult to reach, the coastal towers of the Gulf of Cagliari included between that of Mezza Spiaggia and Isola dei Cavoli can be spotted.
