Facts and practical information
The Church of St. Nicholas of Bari is a place of worship located in Bortigiadas, at 1 Parrocchia Street. Built and consecrated to Catholic worship in 1607, it is the seat of the parish of the same name and is part of the diocese of Tempio-Ampurias.
The building consists of a single barrel-vaulted nave supported by three arches below which face five chapels: two on the right side and three on the left. A wall to the right of the altar displays a St. Nicholas and St. Lucifer Defenders of the Divine Motherhood, a painting dated late 1600s and undergoing recent restoration.
The facade, executed with exposed granite cantons, is marked by four pilasters between which three doors open. The main one, in the center, is surmounted by a large ribbed window decorated with stained glass art. Prominent above it is a large granite cross.
Toward the rear of the building, to the right of the apse, rises the bell tower with the large clock.
