Church of the Holy Cross
Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Croce is a religious building located in Cargeghe, a town in northwestern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of Saints Quirico and Giulitta, archdiocese of Sassari.
The ancient oratory is mentioned in parish sources as early as the end of the 16th century as the seat of an ancient confraternity, no longer operating, of which the bull of its recognition signed by Cardinal Barberini dated 1646 remains. The building preserves inside a valuable wooden altarpiece, perhaps from the 18th century, and a crucifix with jointed arms used in the past for the rite de s'Iscravamentu on Good Friday.
