Church of Sant'Antonio Abate
Facts and practical information
The church of Saint Anthony is a country church located in the territory of Ossi, a town in northwestern Sardinia. Consecrated to Catholic worship, it is part of the parish of San Bartolomeo, archdiocese of Sassari. Until the 17th century it was known as "Sant'Antonio de su crastu ruttu."
Located in the charming locality of the same name not far from the fertile valley of Briai and the pre-Nuragic necropolis of Mesu 'e Montes, the church belonged to the medieval village of Briave, which was depopulated during the 14th century. It preserves a crude 17th-century stoup inside, while the simple altar dates from the late 19th century. The church was the burial place of the owners and workers of the nearby mills.
