The Carè Alto "Dante Ongari" refuge is located at 2459 m a.s.l. in the Adamello group, on the long east crest of Carè Alto, a few steps from the Bus del Gat notch, on the side of the Conca valley-a side valley of Borzago. The municipality is that of Pelugo in the Rendena valley.

To the west the valley is dominated by Carè Alto, to the east the view is open to the Brenta Dolomites.
