Santi Fidenzio e Terenzio, Bassano in Teverina
Facts and practical information
The church of Saints Fidenzio and Terenzio is a church in Bassano in Teverina. It is dedicated to the two patron saints of the town, and is first mentioned in 1677.
The church, originally with three naves, now has a single nave with apse and truss ceiling. On the right wall is a fresco reported on canvas, dating from the 16th century, of the Umbro-Laziale school. The apse is completely decorated with frescoes; the figure of the Virgin Mary between the Patron Saints dominates it, surmounted by the image of God the Father in glory between cherubim and saints. The inscription on the presbyteral arch suggests that the apsidal decoration dates back to the restoration work, carried out by the Confraternity of Saints Terentius and Fidenzo in 1793.
