The Montedimezzo Oriented Nature Reserve is a protected natural area located in the municipality of Vastogirardi, in the province of Isernia. Formerly a hunting reserve of the Bourbons, with the unification of Italy it was forfeited by the state, which entrusted it to the Forestry Administration. It spreads between the altitudes of 900 and 1300 meters and occupies an area of about 276 hectares. It has been included since 1977 in the Program on Man and the Biosphere, an intergovernmental scientific program initiated by UNESCO, to promote on a scientific basis a balanced relationship between man and the environment through, the protection of Biodiversity and the good practices of sustainable development
