The Abbey of Santa Maria in Castagnola is an abbey complex located in Chiaravalle, in the province of Ancona. Founded in the 12th century, it represents a valuable chapter of Romanesque architecture in Italy, but of Gothic style in the interior. Of vital importance in centuries past to the town of Chiaravalle, which practically sprang up around and thanks to this place, since 1985 it has been without a monastic function and currently, made a parish seat, is included in the diocese of Senigallia, within which it is part of the vicariate of Chiaravalle.
