Church of San Bartolomeo
Facts and practical information
The church of San Bartolomeo is a parish in Nocera Inferiore. The present church, formerly dedicated to St. Mary of Miracles, replaced during 1812 the previous parish of St. Bartholomew the Apostle located not far away. It was erected in 1728 as a church for the adjoining convent corresponding to the Olivetan order, which moved the convent previously housed there at the present sanctuary of Montalbino, also in Nocera Inferiore.
During its history, the parish had been housed at two previous structures: the church of St. Bartholomew in pede castri, known since the 14th century and in use until the late 16th century, and the new parish built in the early 17th century and in use until 1812.
Having belonged to the Olivetan order, the area that houses the church is also known by the name Monteoliveto.
