The Villa di Volpigliano, or Villa della Rocca, later known as Villa Massoni, is located on Via Rocca in Massa, just outside the Alberici walls. The original nucleus, much smaller than the present one, was built in the second half of the 16th century and later bought by the Dukes of the city and used for ceremonial, festive and ceremonial duties. The cardinals of the ducal house resided there during their stays in Massa.
