The casaforte of Planaval is the Valdostan casaforte located at the highest altitude: it stands at about 1560 m a.s.l. atop a small promontory from which it dominates the mule track leading from the hamlet of the same name to the main village of Arvier, in Valgrisenche. Also known as the fortified house of the Lords of Avise or the fortified house of Rudolph d'Avise, it is now privately owned and cannot be visited.
