Facts and practical information
The Monastery of San Giacomo di Valleombrosa in Valmanera in Asti, known more simply as Certosa d'Asti or Certosa di Valmanera is a building located in Borgo San Pietro in the Certosa Municipal Park in the northwest suburban area of the city of Asti known as Valmanera.
The monastery complex, now deconsecrated and partly used for school functions and partly as the site of the restoration workshop known as Arazzeria Scassa, was once the home of Vallombrosian monks and later of Carthusian monks until the coming of Napoleon, who confiscated the building and suppressed its religious functions in 1801.
